Paul Jackson Pollock (January 28, 1912 – August 11, 1956), known professionally as Jackson Pollock, was an influential American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. He was well known for his unique style of drip painting.
I really like Pollock’s work a lot. I say this because it’s all about emotion and how he feels. I believe painting was his way of relaxing or a distraction himself. I like how he doesn’t need to have meaning of what he is doing. A proof of what I’m saying is from his quote “Every good painter paints what he is”.
Looking at this painting I believe the dark paint gives a scary look. Like a shocking factor. I like the idea of shocking the viewers to get there attention. I like the idea that anyone can have there own interpretation on what the painting is of or what it means. In all farness the painting doesn’t mean anything but it’s not about knowing it doesn’t mean anything, its about how you feel about the painting and what’s your reaction to it.
